The average price of newspapers in New Zealand was $1,600, according the report.
A year ago, the average price was $4,300.
In the U.S., it was $5,300 in 2015, the study found.
The report also found that the price per square foot of a house in the country has been rising.
In 2016, it was about $7.50 a square foot, according with the bureau of statistics.

was about 12 cents a gallon, the bureau said.
The cost of buying a newspaper has also increased, the survey found.
“The price of newspaper in the United States has been increasing substantially over the past two decades,” the report found.
It said the increase was driven by the increase in the number of newspapers.
It also noted that newspapers are often made out of cardboard and other paper that is cheap to print, which has led to “higher prices for newspapers” because the paper is made from recycled paper.
“In 2016, the typical paper price per article in the newspaper industry was $0, and it is now expected to be about $2.25 per article,” the bureau noted.
The bureau also said that prices for magazines and newspapers are going up as well.
“These increases reflect an increase in magazine and newspaper ownership and publishing activity as magazines and other publications have grown in their size and reach,” the study said.
“This has also led to a corresponding increase in newspaper ownership.”
The report said that the cost per page of a paper has also gone up.
The study said the average page price for a book of books was about 10 cents, and for a magazine the price was about 6 cents.
