How the NRL is preparing for the 2016 season
In a bid to get a better feel for the pace and intensity of the NRL season, FOX Sports has compiled a list of the 10 players who are most likely to be in peak form in 2016.
Here are the players in the NRL for the first half of the season:Sam BurgessSam Burgess, hooker: It is fair to say Burgess will be the player most likely in peak condition heading into the new year.
With his performances against the Bulldogs and Rabbitohs, Burgess is set to have a strong showing in his debut season.
The 28-year-old has been training for the past month at the Brisbane Broncos’ training base and has been playing with an increased intensity since his injury against the Broncos in round four.
“The last couple of months, I have been training every single day.
I am not training to be the best hooker in the world,” Burgess said.”
I am training to have fun, to go out and play with my teammates.”
Hopefully I can do that for the rest of the year.
“Josh DuganJosh Duggan, lock: With his first taste of NRL action, Dugan will be keen to show that he can be effective in the halves.
The 32-year old has been working on his footwork and tackling and has had a solid season in the middle of the pack.
Josh DugatJosh Dugats, hookers: Dugat has played every game this season and is set for a strong start to the season.
He has been one of the most consistent players in Queensland over the past few seasons and will be looking to put his best foot forward in his first season in a new club.
He said the team-mates he has played with have been great support to him and he is excited to be a part of the club.”
It’s been a great journey for me.””
The guys have always been there for me and the way they have supported me and made me better.
It’s been a great journey for me.”
Matt ScottMatt Scott, fullback: Scott has had an excellent season in his return to the NRL after being dropped for a few weeks last season.
Scott has been in good form for Queensland this season, with a career-best nine tries, and is likely to make his debut against the Dragons.
“Matt has been a real inspiration to me over the years and he’s a fantastic leader,” Scott said.
